We have two days left to object
about the Enzo planning application on the old Cuddy
Development. The plans include building on the flood plain
behind Brynhyfryd and raising the level of the land there
another 5 metres This will mean that the new flood plain will
become lower Brynhyfryd with the run off adding to the flow
already causing distress to the people of Aberdare Rd. This may
also cause flooding in Ynys Las. Please follow the link below to
the NPTCBC planning website to object. Search for the
application number which is: P2020/0195 https://www.npt.gov.uk/planningonline I have also posted information relating to the planning on this website. http://www.walk-around-wales.com/county/npt/glynneath/enzo-development/enzo-home.htm Other issues with the development include land contamination.
The Cuddy Group were using the area for industrial landfill up
until 2016, the core of their business was demolition and
asbestos removal. They were tipping in the middle of the night
and into holes which they were covering up. The chemical testing
by Enzo went up to half a metre in most places. This is
inadequate testing. A test in 2008 showed the land to be
contaminated with three times over the safe limit of some
chemicals including arsenic. A dry summer could see contaminated
dust settling everywhere in Glynneath. We need proper testing
before any soil is disturbed on the site. I hope everyone is well out there in these troubled times, we did ask the council to delay this application because of the virus but they refused then they they all went home to work. Please stay safe. - Dai |
