| An interesting co-incidence happened today when an article appeared on BBC News about Erin Brokovich (you may have seen the film) and the contaminant Chromium 6. It's almost the first anniversary since Glynneath Councillors Del Morgan and Simon Knoyle were made aware of of the
presence of the contaminant Chromium on the Heol y Glyn site. It wasn't specified in the report produced by Enzo what type of Chroimium it was. A local chemist identified that if the levels found in the report were Chromium 6 then this would potentially be harmful to the residents of Glynneath, so we asked Del Morgan and Simon Knoyle to find out from NPT Council what type of Chromium it was. We are still waiting for the answer. This is a little about Chromium 6 from the BBC article about Erin Brokovich with the link to the article below that. "Even with on-going clean-up efforts, hexavalent chromium (also known as chromium-6, a chemical that has been shown to cause lung cancer when inhaled by humans) still haunts the plaintiffs, as the plume continued to spread." |
